Safe to circulate
The automotive industry needs to manage emissions related to materials and components, in addition to the ongoing electrification. The project Safe to Circulate has aimed to investigate the possibility of a data-driven system to maximize the reuse of components while maintaining high safety standards.
These studies resulted in the start of the building of a system demonstrator (via a stage 2 proposal) for the efficient recycling of automotive components through data and model analysis aimed at developing and testing scalable solutions for improved and efficient reuse in real environments. This together with strategic parties that are part of the value chain includes a focus on reuse and recirculation of vehicle components via increased digitalisation.
The system demonstrator is expected to utilize data-driven and model-driven techniques to provide insights into the condition of automotive components combined with business and sustainability assessment. This can pave the way for increasing the potential for component reuse, optimizing recycling strategies, and understanding the impact of road conditions on vehicle wear.
