RISE Research Institutes of Sweden is Sweden’s research institute and innovation partner. Through international collaboration with industry, academia and the public sector, we ensure business competitiveness and contribute to a sustainable society. We do this in collaboration with and on behalf of the academia, private and public sector - nationally and internationally. We also have a particular focus on supporting small and medium-sized companies in their innovation processes.
RISE is an independent, state-owned research institute. Today, we have approx. 3,300 employees who work all over the country and in a number of foreign subsidiaries. We are researchers, technicians and other experts needed to develop innovations of tomorrow.
Mission and governance
RISE is one of 43 companies that is completely or partially owned by the Swedish state. We are also one of the state-owned companies that has a specially decided social mission. This means that the parliament has decided that the companies, in whole or in part, must generate effects other than direct profits to the treasury. Within RISE, the profits go to developing the business to provide the best possible support for business and society.
