NextBioForm's partners
The centre has 18 partners distributed in academia, institute, industry and hospital. The centre has two geographical nodes, Stockholm/Uppsala and Lund/Malmö. Two partners are located outside Sweden: Ferring Pharmaceuticals in Denmark and Regenics A/S in Norway.
1. RISE
RISE is an independent, state-owned research institute. The Division of Bioscience and Materials has strong activities in the field of formulation for biologics both in publicly funded projects and in proprietary industrial contracts. We work with liquid and solid formulation, protein interactions at interfaces, fibrillation, as well as novel formulation platforms that enhance protein stability and formulation of probiotics. RISE promotes the innovation capacity within the industry, acts as a link between academia and industry and translates basic science into innovations with benefits for industry and society.
2. Lund University
Lund University was founded in 1666 and is ranked among the world’s top 100 universities. The department of food technology engineering and nutrition has strong research groups within the areas of applied surface and colloid chemistry, formulation, of food and pharmaceutical, characterization of macromolecules and probiotics.
3. Malmö University
Malmö University (MAU) is an international University with an interdisciplinary approach. The Biofilms – Research Center for Biointerfaces at MAU includes strong research groups within the Material and Life Sciences with several research projects in close collaboration with national and international companies. The research is focused on phenomena related to biofilms and biologically relevant surfaces.

7. BioGaia
BioGaia is an innovative Swedish healthcare company and a world leader in probiotics with 28 years of experience of developing, marketing and selling probiotic products. BioGaia conducts research and development to offer consumers clinically proven, health-promoting, patented and user-friendly products. BioGaia needs access to a large variety of expertise across many different desciplins to better understand the underlying physicochemical mechanisms of biological formulations to help design innovative, user friendly products through environmental friendly, economically efficient and technically robust manufacturing processes.

8. Regenics
Regenics is an Oslo-based SME biotech company operating in the very strong marine biotech cluster of Norway. Our core business is to develop marine technologies and products for therapeutic applications such as wound healing. Regenics technology is based on the use of bioactive substances from unfertilized salmon roe cytoplasm with strong skin regenerative activity.
9. Ilya Pharma
Ilya Pharma develops the next generation biologics to treat wounds in skin and mucosa. It is an innovative Swedish pharmaceutical company founded in 2016 developing drug candidates for proof of concept in clinical phase I and II from its technology platform of lactic acid bacteria expressing different human therapeutic proteins. Ilya Pharma's vision is to revolutionize the field of wound care.
10. Spiber Technologies AB
Spiber Technologies AB is a research-based biotech company developing technologies based on the recombinant spider silk proteins Spiber® and SolvNT®. By imitating Nature’s high-performance fiber, the spider silk, we gain basic knowledge about protein folding into strong, elastic and biocompatible materials. Moreover, we are using genetic engineering to incorporate foreign elements to add desired biochemical functions to the silk materials. Our main focus is on developing protein-based materials with advanced functions for biomedical and life science applications.

Ferring Pharmaceuticals is a research-driven, specialty biopharmaceutical group committed to helping people around the world build families and live better lives. Vironova is a Swedish biotechnology company specialized in nano-particle characterization for the biopharmaceutical market. Our technology is based on the combination of electron microscopy and automated image analysis. We are now expanding our technology towards a broader spectrum of biopharmaceutical applications, such as the characterization of protein formulations.
13. SOLVE Research & Consultancy
SOLVE R&C is a CRO working with particle analysis in both finished formulations and in difficult matrices such as blood, CSF, etcetera. We operate globally with a strong focus on Life Science products but also covering new materials, food technology, cosmetics, and environmental science. We work in close collaboration with both academia as well as with the industry.

CR Competence AB is a company devoted to catalyzing product and process development through the applicable use of in-depth knowledge. The company needs to combine a business-savvy approach with involvement in the frontline of research for a sustainable value proposition to its clients. The company works with various businesses in different fields of which pharmaceutical product- and analytical development is an important part.

SARomics provides premium protein crystallization, structure determination, computational chemistry, and fragment-based hit generation outsourcing services.
