Paris Carbone

Paris Carbone is the research leader of the Distributed Computing group at RISE SICS. He holds a PhD in Distributed Computer Systems from KTH and has been a core open source committer for Apache Flink, a leading system in data stream processing. His research interests span several domains of computer science from distributed algorithms, databases and data management to declarative programming support for data analytics and AI.

The Distributed Computing Group's focus is to create a next-generation software stack able to take fast, AI-assisted decision making to the next level for data-driven applications of our future society. The group's work binds state of the art mechanisms in compiler and database technology together with hardware-accelerated machine learning and distributed stream processing. Ultimately the group aims to provide fast yet trustworthy and simple-to-use programming systems for mass adoption within diverse domains such as ICT, IoT, retail, medicine, finance and smart cities.
