Marlene Johansson, Ph.D is a senior researcher at the unit Social Transformation. Marlene leads and coordinates initiatives within the New European Bauhaus and RISE partnership within EIT Culture & Creativity.
The research has its focus on entrepreneurship and ecosystems within the cultural and creative industries, cross-innovation, cultural heritage and place development. Marlene runs several research and development projects in close collaboration with universities and companies.
Marlene is an affiliated researcher at Umeå University with a focus on entrepreneurship, innovation and ecosystems. Marlene has over 20 years of experience as a researcher, lecturer and leader at Umeå University, as well as more than 10 years of experience in Sweden's innovation system, Marlene was during 2017-2021 CEO of the incubator eXpression Umeå and during 2022-2023 CEO of Innovationsbolaget in Örnsköldsvik.
