Contact AndersAutonomous vehicles, as they are known, are about to become increasingly common on our roads. People should be able to travel on self-driving buses and using private cars as well. Automated transport systems offer major potential benefits for freight transportation. The drivers of the automated trucks of the future will sit safely and comfortably in a control room. Other benefits include anticipated reductions in carbon dioxide emissions thanks to smoother driving and more efficient transport. Automated vehicles can travel in close convoy, for example. However, unmanned driving also brings with it new challenges and opportunities as regards factors such as safe positioning, decision support on the road, human behaviour and altered business models.
RISE brings together expertise and unique testbeds in the field of transport and mobility. Within automated vehicles, we focus on the development, simulation and testing of technologies and methods for active and passive road safety and automated driving.
