Good chemical processes produce eco-friendly products
Microalgae that purify drains, connected sensors that measure air quality, and used car tyres that are turned into fuel. Chemicals and the chemical industry are essential for a modern, functioning society. A major challenge, however, is in choosing chemicals and manufacturing processes that have less impact on the inner and outer environment and are less toxic to humans and animals, without diminishing the function of the product or material.
RISE helps to further develop and streamline today’s chemical industry together with the business community, and stimulates sustainable production and use of chemicals. We are present throughout the chain, from raw materials to finished product, which includes process development, pilot production, chemical analysis and toxicological and eco-toxicological evaluation. RISE runs the Substitution Centre to inform and advise companies and the public sector about how we can reduce problematic chemicals in society.
