Force and torque measurement in practice

The course aims to provide a better understanding and insight into how force and torque measurement systems work. The course is focused on practical applications and aims to give you more options to choose a suitable measurement system for your application and to realize which limitations your measurement system has.

We present different techniques for force and torque measurement with a focus on practical understanding through lectures and laboratory sessions. We will deal with the interpretation of sensor specifications and how to choose the right transducer and measurement system based on measurement requirements. The course will also include discussion on how to prepare your measurement so that the conditions for a successful measurement are the best. A large part of the course is devoted to practical exercises and discussions about problems and results. Examples of how to carry out a measurement uncertainty analysis are also included.
