The power of climate-smart energy systems
The climate challenge coupled with society’s need for energy demand new, sustainable, competitive and flexible solutions. National goals such as fossil-free electricity generation by 2040, a fossil fuel-independent vehicle fleet by 2030, and a carbon-neutral society by 2045, are just a few examples of goals that rapidly increase interest in climate-smart energy systems. At present, several initiatives are underway focusing on renewable electricity and carbon-efficient industrial processes in which solutions with broad applicability play a key role. Two examples are renewable hydrogen via electrolysis and carbon capture.
RISE has knowledge and research infrastructures that span several technology areas. Together with industry, academia and the public sector, we find solutions for sustainable energy systems. To assist us, we have unique test environments in which technologies and processes can be tested to ensure reliable, stable and flexible solutions for the supply, conversion, distribution, storage and use of energy.
