Circular flows of building materials

The possibilities for recycling or reuse vary between different types of materials, products and areas of use. For some types of material, technology for recycling or reuse is already developed and functional, while such are missing or under development for other material types. Materials from demolished buildings may have deteriorated in terms of quality during the time of use, which may affect the possibility of both recycling and reuse. The various construction and demolition waste fractions often have a low resale value and can be a challenge to achieve profitability in current business models.

Within RISE, we work in various ways to recycle and reuse construction waste to enable circular construction, both in research and development projects and in multiple forms of testing assignments. We have cutting-edge expertise in all of society's central material flows. We can test and ensure that recycled products or products containing secondary raw material meet the appropriate quality requirements.
