Depolymerisation (solvolysis) for recycling of plastics and textiles

At RISE you can validate your feedstock, solvent system or catalyst for depolymerisation. Recycling through depolymerisation enables a new lifecycle also for partly degraded or mixed materials.

Condensation polymers as polyesters, polyamides, polyurethanes and polycarbonates contain labile bonds which may be selectively cleaved. By breaking these bonds, monomers, the building blocks of polymers, can be obtained. These monomers can be repolymerized into new polymer or used as a base chemical in other chemical processes.

We have a long experience of polyester depolymerization through glycolysis, alcoholysis, and hydrolysis along with purification of the obtained monomers. We further have competence within solvolysis of polyurethanes and polyamides.

Our rectors allow depolymerization of samples ranging from a few grams to several kilograms. Reactors comes in 3 sizes and hold 150 mL, 2000 mL or 50 L. All equipment can withstand at least 10 bar of overpressure, some up to 250 bar.
