High temperature corrosion in combustion plants

Fuels contain substances that may cause high temperature corrosion on, for example, steam tubes in combustion plants. This can lead to high costs for material loss and downtime. RISE can analyse the risk of corrosion or suggest measures to prevent corrosion.

Ash-forming substances in fuel may cause deposits on cooled surfaces such as steam tubes in combustion plants. Due to the high temperature, some substances in the deposits can react with the steel in the tubes. This results in material loss that must be replaced or remedied at high costs. If the material loss becomes too large, tube leaks occur with production failure as a result. RISE can analyse the causes of deposits and corrosion through experiments in our combustion lab, sampling of deposits and corrosion as well as advanced laboratory analyses of the corrosion.
