Flexible supply of agricultural and forestry residues, a business oppo

In this project, we investigated how, by combining flows from agriculture and forestry, it is possible to better supply the new emerging bio-based industry with raw materials while creating new business opportunities for the individual land and forest owners.

An increased supply of biomass is, and has been, one of the most important strategies in Sweden for achieving set climate goals. One possible way to utilize the full potential of biomass is to increase collaboration between agriculture and forestry and the associated processing industry. Examples of possible synergies can be found in logistics, handling and pre-treatment as well as in the processing. The project's goal ws to identify parts of the value chain as well as processing processes where there is most to be gained from a flexible supply of residual streams from the forest and field and to identify bottlenecks and potentials.
