Thriving Northern Capacities

Together with six smaller municipalities in Västerbotten and Norrbotten, we have been developing collaborative models for increased capacity to be part of the green societal transformation taking place in northern Sweden.

The purpose of the project was to create capacity and learning for small and medium-sized municipalities to be part of the green societal transition. The overall goal was to contribute to a cohesive Sweden where everyone is part of and contributes to a green societal transformation.

Small municipalities are rarely able to be part of the national innovation system despite being highly innovative and solving the challenges they face in creative and innovative ways. In this project, the participating municipalities identified common focus areas related to the green transition and explored ways to share resources and knowledge.

Ultimately, it also provides a stronger and more unified voice for these municipalities, which is important from a funding perspective. As well as an overall analysis of needs, challenges and common focus areas for the entire geographical area.

The project is finalised and results in Swedish can be found at the SWedish webbpage.
