Contact OlleThe project aims to develop and establish new narrative formats within XR, particularly in social VR ecosystems. The collaboration between Stockholm University of the Arts (SKH) and RISE will focus on utilizing the possibilities in platforms such as VRChat and Meta Horizon to develop best practices for dramaturgy, engagement, and interaction.
XR AAA aims to develop new narrative formats within Extended Reality (XR), with a focus on social VR environments. In collaboration between Stockholm University of the Arts (SKH) and RISE, the project explores platforms such as VRChat and Meta Horizon to create best practices for dramaturgy, audience engagement, and participant interaction.
The project focuses on exploring user behaviors and interactions within XR, rather than developing new technology. By utilizing existing platforms and tools, the project will help shape the storytelling structures of the future within social VR ecosystems.
Background
With the growing interest in social VR platforms, where user-generated stories create dynamic real-time narratives, XR AAA offers an opportunity to explore new ways of storytelling in digital environments. The project draws inspiration from role-playing and improvisational groups in VR and investigates how these methods can be developed for broader cultural and educational purposes.
The goal is to create a deeper understanding of how interactive real-time storytelling can be used to engage both active participants and spectators.
Goals
XR AAA will develop and document new narrative formats in social VR environments. By producing prototypes and compiling "How To" guides, the project will create a knowledge base for future XR developers and storytellers. This will enable more people to create their own VR experiences and engage in interactive storytelling.
The project is a Vinnova-funded initiative under the call "Innovative Collaborations with the USA in XR - Step 1."
