System innovation solving complex societal issues
Society and industry are facing many complex challenges. In order to improve society’s ability to utilise innovation and achieve established goals, both system innovation and governance innovation are needed. An isolated issue cannot be resolved without taking into account the associated consequences, regardless of whether the solution required is technical, scientific or social in nature.
For RISE, system innovation entails the reform of socio-technical systems, such as regulatory frameworks in the transport sector or healthcare. Governance innovation involves an overhaul of societal processes in order to make decisions, manage and lead. RISE offers expertise in these areas. We run policy labs and transition labs and have the skills and infrastructure for society to utilise data as a strategic resource. RISE also offers systems analysis for transitioning in industries, technology areas and sectors, for future, scenario and global analyses, as well as for process management and strategic agenda networks, roadmaps and co-creation processes.
