FINEST - New food concepts can reduce dependence on arable land

FINEST researchers, in collaboration with the food industry, are developing new food concepts to reduce dependence on arable land. The research projects must have the potential to contribute to robustness in the food and feed supply under a changing climate without sacrificing environmental sustainability goals.

Being able to produce food that does not take up arable land could make a significant contribution to global food and feed production with complementary non-agricultural methods.

In FINEST, we will evaluate how a potential food chain could be designed. We will also study the environmental benefits, health aspects and consumer acceptance and look at the regulations around this type of food. We want to increase the understanding of how experimental production of food more generally could contribute to a more sustainable food supply.

We create FINEST together

At FINEST, we address issues that are too large and too difficult for the individual player to solve on their own. The knowledge we create together is an important key to achieving a sustainable transformation of the food system.
