The project currently involves 16 countries, mainly in Europe.
The aim of ICP Materials is to investigate effects of air pollution on soiling and corrosion of materials and cultural heritage. ICP Materials is nationally funded to support United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) and its air pollution convention. It is one of several effect oriented International Co-operative Programmes reporting to the Working Group on Effects, which together with the European Monitoring and Evaluation Programme provides the science for the policy process of the air convention to develop protocols for lowering air pollution and corresponding effects in the UNECE region.
