SBTi has approved RISE science-based climate targets
23 January 2025, 12:21
RISE's climate targets have been validated and approved by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), which means that RISE's greenhouse gas emission targets are in line with the Paris Agreement.
- RISE is a key player in Sweden's sustainable transition, our research and our collaboration with business and society aim for new solutions for a more resource-efficient and sustainable Sweden, always with a focus on reducing greenhouse gas emissions. It is therefore an important step that our own targets have now been validated by SBTi, says Malin Frenning, CEO of RISE.
RISE has set short-term targets to reduce emissions in Scope* 1 and 2 by 42 percent and a reduction in climate emissions in Scope 3 by 25 percent by 2030, compared with the base year of 2022. Approval from SBTi is an important part of a transparent sustainability program.
- I am very proud that RISE has high ambitions for our own climate work. We would also like to encourage our partners to join us in our efforts to halve global emissions by 2030 and reach net zero by 2050. We also look forward to engaging in dialog with our suppliers, so that everyone takes their share of responsibility for the climate transition, says Ulrika Rydén, Sustainability Manager at RISE.
- We will follow up continuously and report at least annually on our climate work. The next important step is to establish a climate action plan to achieve the goals and also prepare for long-term, scientific climate goals, concludes Ulrika Rydén.
