Representatives of four Korean research organizations and research financiers have today signed a cooperation agreement with RISE. This Memorandum of Understanding ("MOU") is an overarching declaration of intent to cooperate in areas such as the maritime area as well as battery and semiconductor research.

"I am very proud that Korea has identified Sweden as a leading cooperation partner. This agreement gives us the opportunity to work together on new research methods, not least regarding the transition to a more sustainable society and environmentally friendly transport", says Pia Sandvik, RISE CEO.

Sweden's long-standing tradition of technical know-how in both the shipbuilding and automotive industries, combined with extensive research on the environmental adaptation of global shipping is of significant interest to Korea, which is one of the world's leading shipbuilding nations.

"Korea's research financiers signing this agreement with us proves Sweden’s world-leading competence in these areas. As nations, we can benefit from each other and make significant progress together", says Christian Finnsgård, Head of Maritime Research at RISE.

The MOU is signed between RISE Research Institutes of Sweden, Korea Evaluation Institute of Industrial Technology (KEIT), Korea Electronics Technology Institute (KETI), Korea Automotive Technology Institute (KATECH), and Korea Maritime Equipment Research Institute (KOMERI).
