Börje Andrén has worked with optical research, image quality and colour issues and visual ergonomics for both 2D and 3D for almost 43 years. He has participated in the development of the visual ergonomic part of the TCO label since 1995 and developed requirements and test methods.
For about ten years, Börje has helped Intertek Semko with the development of its visual ergonomic laboratory and measured and evaluated more than 4,000 screens.
He has participated in the Swedish working group for ISO 9241 and co-developed MPR test methods and requirements for MPR (Statens Mät- och Provråd, later SWEDAC) and methods for ICDM, International Committee for Display Metrology (together with eg Dr. Edward F. Kelley, NIST) and tested screens for MPR at the Swedish Radiation Protection Institute.
Börje has contributed to interdisciplinary research projects in image quality and has authored many scientific reports. He has also worked extensively with cameras and imaging systems and has measured and evaluated more than 1500 camera lenses, e.g. MTF (Modulation Transfer Function) and straylight. Börje has participated in many interesting projects such as X-ray film evaluations for Swedish industry, lens testing for photo magazines and lens manufacturers, lens testing for the famous photographer Lennart Nilsson, Swedish defense industry and intraocular eye lenses with two focal lengths for the medical industry. He has also been a co-supervisor for a number of M Sc. Students and B.SC e.g. Lars Hansson, KTH, (this year's selected best thesis at the department), and Katarina Josefsson, optician; B.Sc. (this year's best degree project at KI, Stockholm)
