I mainly work with projects aiming to reduce the environment footprint of cement and concrete by using alternative reactive additives (SCM) such as activated clays or biomass ashes. I investigate the impact of the presence of such SCM on the hydration reaction of cement and on the resulting durability.
I have also worked on the alkali silica reaction (ASR), a deleterious mechanism that can lead to the expansion of a concrete structure and, in some cases, to its cracking.
My doctoral degree focused on the interaction between the most important hydrate present in hydrated portland cement (C-S-H) and anions, especially chloride.
