Has twenty five years of international experience in fire safety research and engineering. Has published over 140 scientific/technical publications on different subjects concerning fire safety were 64 are peer reviewed publications (see publication list). Has been involved in large scale and model scale studies of fire and smoke spread in building constructions and research related to fire services. He was the initiator and project leader of the Large Scale Tests performed in Runehamar tunnel 2003 and project leader for METRO and has participated in numerous EU research projects on fires. His main contributions to fire safety is in the area of design fires, smoke movement, visibility in smoke, sprinkler/water mist systems and influence of ventilation on fire development and research on fire services. He is one of the authors to the Tunnel Fire Dynamics handbook. He has been appointed as part time (20 %) professor position in 2006 - 2012, at the Mälardalen University in Västerås, Sweden, and at Lund University 2012, where he is supervising and giving classes for students on fire dynamics in tunnels, industrial fires and rack storage fires.
