Working as a testing and research engineer within one of our expertise areas that involves archival durability and permanence. It's about document preservation in archives and promotes information storage for the future. The testing involves papers, recording materials for writing and printing (pens, stamps, printers), self-adhesive labels, and storage materials (archive boxes and file covers). We also work with paper testing outside of archival permanence, such as the stability of paper for general graphic applications.
Partially working with standardization within the national committee 'SIS/TK 546 Informationsförvaltning' in the working group 'AG03 Fysiskt bevarande och förvaring'. The committee works towards 'ISO/TC 46 Information and Documentation', and AG03 focuses specifically on 'SC10 Requirements for document storage and conditions for preservation'.
Standards and key documents that we work according to:
SPCR 004 Certification rules for archival materials
RA-FS 2006:4 Riksarkivets föreskrifter och allmänna råd om tekniska krav och certifiering
ISO 1924-2 Paper and board - Determination of tensile properties - Part 2: Constant rate of elongation method (20 mm/min)
ISO 1974 Paper - Determination of tearing resistance - Elmendorf method
ISO 5626 Paper - Determination of folding endurance
ISO 5630 Paper and board - Accelerated ageing - Part 3: Moist heat treatment at 80 degrees C and 65 % relative humidity
ISO 9706 Information and documentation - Paper for documents - Requirements for permanence
ISO 11108 Information and documentation - Archival paper - Requirements for permanence and durability
ISO 11798 Information and documentation - Permanence and durability of writing, printing and copying on paper - Requirements and test methods
ISO 17025 General requirements for the competence of testing and calibration laboratories
ISO 20494 Paper - Requirements for stability for general, graphic applications
