Lithium-ion batteries give us amazing opportunities, but there are also challenges to overcome. Among other things, you need to consider safety aspects such as the risks involved and how to prevent them.

Target audience:
This course is relevant for employees that will start working with lithium-ion batteries and for those who would like to increase their knowledge regarding fire safety of lithium-ion batteries.
Course objectives:
On completion of the course, you will understand the risks involved in testing and handling batteries. You will also be able to apply this knowledge to prevent the risks.
Content:
- Short introduction to lithium-ion batteries
- Risks associated with lithium-ion batteries and how they are affected by battery type (cell chemistry, cell type, charge level, size, etc.)
- Thermal runaway and thermal propagation
- Battery fires and preventive measures
- Extinguishing operations as well as handling of batteries after a fire (damaged batteries)
- Safety-critical testing of lithium-ion batteries
