Casting imperfection analysis of aluminium
The course provides basic knowledge about aluminum as a cast metal and about how melt handling affects the casting result. Increased knowledge also improves the possibility of producing aluminum castings with increased quality.
The course consists of a theoretical part where we go through possible defects, such as shrinkage, gas porosity and cracks, and how these occur. In addition, we will give a general overview of materials technology concerning aluminum and the most common casting methods. Part of the day is devoted to practically learning to identify defects using microscopy. The course ends with an exercise where the participants can use their new knowledge to investigate real casting defects and discuss how they could have been avoided.
This course is not scheduled but is offered by agreement with customers.
