Inclusive urban planning

A fundamental e-course for those who want to work actively and strategically with inclusion in projects and planning
Learn the basics of inclusion and gain tools and knowledge to work with inclusiveness in urban development, both in processes and projects.

Course content

The training provides you with tools, concrete exercises, and insights to turn knowledge into action. You will also have access to downloadable methodology materials, exercises, and templates, so you can continue to develop in the field after completing the course.

Aim of the course

In the course, you will learn:

  • Concepts and definitions related to inclusion
  • How inclusion helps us develop better processes and solutions
  • Why inclusion should be promoted in planning
  • How to practically apply an inclusive approach in the planning process
  • How places can be practically designed and shaped to be more inclusive

Target group

The course is aimed at those working in urban planning, property development, and architecture, either in the public sector or in private sector, who have a basic knowledge and understanding of the urban development process. 

Format

The active course time is approximately 6 hours, with a total estimated course time of around 8 hours (including self-study and exercises in your own work environment). You will have access to the course for 3 months and can easily go back and navigate the content as you wish. It is recommended to spread out the course over time, ideally planned over 2 weeks.

The course material is in Swedish

 

The course has been developed by RISE with support from the Swedish National Board of Housing, Building and Planning and Formas – the government research council for sustainable development   –  as part of the New European Bauhaus Academy.
