Introduction to Lithium-ion batteries
It is becoming increasingly important to have knowledge about different types of batteries in your work. This course will give you a basic understanding of Lithium-ion batteries so that you can then go on to develop your battery skills further.
Target group
The course is aimed at technicians and engineers who are about to start working with batteries.
Course objectives
On completion of the course, your will have a basic knowledge of Lithium-ion batteries and understand the terminology associated with batteries.

- Who needs batteries?
- How to use batteries in automotive applications
- Commonly used batteries and where they are used
- Construction of batteries
- Terminology
- Lifetime parameters – charging, temperatures, BMS (Battery Management System)
- Series and parallel connections
- Data sheets – what information is available?
Prerequisites:
No prerequisites. This course is required to take part in other courses in the RISE course offering related to batteries.
