The Pressure Balance -use, theory, and practice

Pressure Balances are stable and accurate devices used to measure pressure, but how are these measurements performed correctly, and what is to be avoided? During the course, theory is mixed with practice. You will learn what pitfalls to avoid and how to calculate the pressure.

In the course, we will describe the design and functionality of the pressure balance and how to calculate the reference pressure based on information provided from a calibration certificate and the pressure balance equation. We will also go through the handling, operation, cleaning, and maintenance-procedures of the pressure balance. In addition, it includes among other things, the handling of sources of error and estimation of measurement uncertainty. A large part of the course will consist of laboratory sessions and practical parts.

Objectives and purpose

The course aims to give you knowledge about the basics of handling and using a pressure balance. After the course, you should be able to calibrate pressure sensors with the help of a pressure balance and be able to assess the influence of external factors such as local gravity.

Target group

The course targets you who use pressure balances for calibrations in your work or who are responsible for calibration laboratories with pressure balances, and who need to deepen your competence in the field. Also, people who are tasked with estimating measurement uncertainty budgets benefit greatly from this course.

The course is given in Swedish.
