Cathodic protection of metals

RISE works with inspections, investigations, calculations, theoretical and practical applications of cathodic protection on a variety of objects such as boats, marine structures, gas pipelines, water pipelines, other buried and/or submersed structures and reinforcement steel in concrete.

The rate of corrosion on a metal surface in contact with a liquid depends on electrode potential. The rate of corrosion can be significantly reduced by lowering the electrode potential by using a sacrificial anode made from a more reactive metal, or using an external power supply to change the amount of charge on the metal surface.

What we can offer

We can assist with corrosion studies, computation, and theoretical and practical recommendations in the application of cathodic protection of structures.

In Sweden, installation of cathodic protection must be registered with municipal building authorities. Information on registration can be found in the linked document.
