Cooling of data centres

To achieve the most efficient data center operation, thermal control is at utter significance.

In a data center there are several options and technical solutions for controlling the temperature. Below are some examples:

  • Compressor controlled cooling with air handling unit (CRAH)
  • Direct air cooling
  • Back door cooling
  • Row cooler
  • On-chip cooling
  • Immersion cooling

All are represented at the ICE test and demo facility. Through the test facility, we have built up knowledge for each individual technology and what characterizes and distinguishes them.

By combining thermal control for both the building and the servers, something we call holistic cooling is created, which gives the opportunity to run several systems together to further optimize the operation of a data center.

By testing, measuring and evaluating, ICE data center has the prerequisites for creating the next generation data center. We do this by taking the entire system into account "from the chip to the chiller".
