Analysis of shocks and impacts on materials and structures

Safety-critical questions arise in relation to shocks and impacts. Testing dynamic scenarios demand advanced experimental equipment and competences to be able to simulate loading and measure corresponding responses. RISE has long-standing experience in testing, modelling and measuring the dynamic properties of materials and structures.

Our offer

We perform standardized and accredited testing along with specialized testing of components and products. We offer certification in compliance with current standards for a selected line of products. We also offer testing and product development prior to the market introduction stage.perform dynamic testing.  

 Our equipment

Our laboratories enable testing of components, products and up to full-size constructions. Tests can be performed in our laboratories, as well as in the field. Our test beds can be tailored to perform customized tests in addition to standardized ones. 

Results from experiments can be combined with simulations to be able to assess the yielded mechanical properties and ensure that the necessary design and safety criteria are fulfilled.

  • Drop testing
  • Ballistic testing
  • Vibration testing
  • Seismic testing
  • Pendulum testing
  • Impact testing
  • Blast testing
  • Personal protection equipment (PPE) testing 

     

Measurement and simulation tools that we offer:

  • High-speed filming and Digital Image Correlation (DIC)
  • Finite and discrete element simulations at different scales and level of refinement

 Examples of products that we test are: 

  • Packages, helmets, visors, glass, electrical- and telecom products, safes and security cabinets, building components and materials, vehicle components, road equipment and barriers.

Results generated as a part of a commission will be delivered as a RISE report. RISE report(s) can also be applied towards certification.
