Energy management

Industrial energy management aims to improve the energy efficiency and reduce energy costs. It includes everything from investing in new, energy efficient technology to organisational management and can, for example, involve:

• Create routines and structures for identifying and implementing energy efficiency measures,
• Increase revenue opportunities through flexibel operation of energy-using processes and, for example, participate in flexibility markets or support services for balancing the electricity grid,
• Identify and monitor relevant energy key performance indicators (KPIs),
• Create a culture within the company of continuous energy efficiency improvement,
• Comply with legal requirements, such as the revised Energy Efficiency Directive (EED).

Energy audit

The first step in succesful energy management is often to carry out an energy audit. The main parts of an energy audit consist of allocating energy use to support and production processes and identify energy efficiency measures. Many companies are subject to legal requirements for periodic energy surveys. RISE can conduct energy audits according to European and international standards that comply with the Law on energy audits of large enterprises (EKL) as well as the legal requirements for companies covered by the revised Energy Efficiency Directive (EED).

A tool for implementing industrial energy management is ISO 50001, where RISE can help both with advice on implementing ISO 50001 or certifying an existing energy management system.
