Fire safety engineering prevents and extinguish fires
Every year, many people are injured or killed in fires. Fires also incur billions in material costs. Preventing, containing and extinguishing fires saves money, the environment and, above all, saves lives.
RISE has one of the largest fire protection engineering departments in the world. We are experts at prevention, containment and extinguishing, but we also offer testing and certification of materials, structures, vehicles and ships to ensure that they comply with societal fire safety requirements. Some of our focus areas include research into fire risks and the environmental impact of fires, as well as the development of methods and regulations to support a fossil-free and sustainable society. We focus on pre-normative work, for example, to develop new standards for industry and to develop the basis for various regulations for society. RISE works towards most industries where fire is a relevant hazard.
