Contact ChristinaWe are in a revolutionary time of transition where we are drastically rethinking how we use materials. The transition, which is being made to ensure the survival of future generations on our planet, means that we need to move towards a more efficient use of resources. This is what material transition is all about. It is not primarily about changing individual materials or products, but rather about changing today's linear machinery to one that makes better use of our materials.
Changing the machinery requires changes along the entire value chain: reliable sourcing, flexible production, new product design, profit-making and value-preserving business models, transformation and remanufacturing for longevity, and value-creating recycling processes, among others. These changes, in turn, must be supported by digital, regulatory and financial frameworks that work both with each other and in a global market. Moreover, they will likely need to be adapted to different societies and accepted by them in general.
At RISE, we have expertise, test beds and innovation networks that cover a wide range of these challenges, across the entire value chain. We have experts in circular transition for a more sustainable economy, processes and systems for qualitative recycling and reuse, future material production and traceable and quality-assured circular materials.
