FireBIM

Accounting for fire safety engineering using building information modeling - tool to support actors from building sector.

FireBIM proposes developing a web-based BIM platform to improve and facilitate international fire safety documentation from the early design stage. European national building regulations on fire safety differs from country to country, making international collaboration demanding, costly, and prone to high risks. This hinders competition for stakeholders within the building design process who want to operate across borders in Europe. The goal of FireBIM is to develop the embedded mechanisms of fire safety assessment in an online BIM platform to increase cross-disciplinary facilitation of fire safety and across European borders.

The project digitally couples the fire codes from Belgium, Denmark, Estonia, Germany, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Portugal, Sweden and Turkey.

FireBIM is built by 33 partners from architecture, construction companies, consultants, fire safety experts, BIM developers, software design, and education.
