StationsCDM Demo

CDM, Station Collaborative Decision Making, is a way to facilitate cooperation between several actors within a digital ecosystem in order to be able to make decisions that are better for all parties. With this common picture of the situation, decisions can be more effective based on, among other things, temporal, environmental and financial gains.

CDM (Collaborative Decision-Making) has been worked on in segments for both shipping (Port CDM, part of Sea Traffic Management) and aviation (Ariport CDM, closely linked to SESAR) where cooperation between many actors is needed. This has contributed to higher punctuality in arrivals and departures and a better overview of positioning, which has increased safety, reduced environmental impact and increased efficiency. In addition to a common situation picture, the concept also includes common definitions of so-called "states" and process pictures, follow-up of performance and effects through common KPI:s based on critical problem areas can be identified.

Based on the preliminary study, see document link at the bottom of the page, which was done in 2019, it was now possible to make a demonstration of how the passenger trains operating between Stockholm and Gothenburg and how the trains are handled behind the "scenes" at the Hagalund marshalling yard.

The goal of StationCDM Demo is to

  • Increase information transparency between the ecosystem's actors. By allowing all actors involved in a structured way to share their intentions with other actors in a controlled manner, problems and deviations can be identified early and countered with higher traveler satisfaction as a result.
  • Create greater anticipation to react: By e.g. the traffic type TÅG can better predict upcoming deviations, neighboring types of traffic (e.g. train taxis, buses, public transport) have a better opportunity to inform and counter deviations in the train system.
  • A more accurate follow-up and possibility of analysis of the railway station at eco-system level. With common KPIs and a view of the cause/effect of disruptions in the railway system, priorities and improvements can be directed to the areas that produce the best effect.
  • Strengthen cooperation between business, universities/institutes and social actors and authorities.
