Sweden in the semiconductor world – analysis and proposed strategy

In this report RISE analyses the origins of the global semiconductor shortage, and how long it will persist. Furthermore, the report describes the Swedish and international semiconductor ecosystems, which role Sweden should play in the semiconductor area, and how Sweden and Swedish companies should relate to the European industrial alliances.

Semiconductors are crucial to the Swedish industry, and increasingly so. Since 2021 there has been a shortage of semiconductors, and Europe is now making one of its largest industrial efforts ever, through the European Chips Act.
