Contact MariaSWITCH is an EU-project aimed at promoting sustainable and healthy eating habits among the residents of Europe. In the region of Västra Götaland, one of the project's six Food hubs will be established. Here, consumers, food producers, and stakeholders will have the opportunity to come together to explore new sustainable and healthy food options.
Europe needs to change its production and consumption of food in order to reduce climate impact while also promoting healthy eating habits among its residents. The EU-funded project SWITCH aims at driving a positive development in the food sector in a sustainable and fair manner that benefits everyone, regardless of socioeconomic status.
The project spans over four years and involves eight European countries. At six locations Food hubs will be established with the intent to reflect their regional food systems. The purpose of these hubs is to create an interactive meeting point where consumers, food producers, and community stakeholders can discuss and make experiments with new sustainable and healthy food alternatives. One of these Food hubs will be launched in Västra Götaland.
At the end of the project, the goal is to have achieved a positive behavioral shift among Europe's residents related to food habits, health, and sustainability. This will be achieved by influencing diet guidelines and recommendations in EU countries as well as increasing awareness throughout the food chain.
The Swedish part of SWITCH is led by RISE in collaboration with Chalmers.
