Contact AnnWashing affects textile materials in several ways. The method is used to determine various properties such as dimensional change, wrinkling, seam puckering, general changes in appearance (pilling, fuzziness) after washing. The method is also used as pre-treatment of materials prior to testing of flammability or mechanical properties.
The method corresponds to domestic washing and drying.
The washing properties of a textile material are an essential part of the quality experience. By testing these characteristics, it is possible at an early stage to predict what the appearance and function will look like after washing.
The method describes several washing and drying processes. In our laundry lab we can offer washing with the standard washing machine type A which corresponds to the type of washing machine used in Europe. Washing machine type A is also the most used in laboratory tests in international contexts.
The washing programs are available from 30 ◦C to 95◦C to correspond to the variants found in care labels on garments and other textile materials. The same applies to the drying methods, e.g. tumble drying, line drying, flat drying.
The method is always used in conjunction with other test methods that evaluates a particular property, e.g. dimensional change (SS-EN ISO 5077).
