Contact KristerOur large test halls – with the names of Faraday and Awitar – has been designed in conjunction with the Swedish automotive industry specifically for EMC testing of vehicles. In addition to testing EMC characteristics of road vehicles, we have substantial experience of testing forest machinery, earthmoving machinery, military vehicle.
Vehicles and vehicle components are required to meet legal requirements for EMC according to UN ECE COP R10 (which replaces 72/245/EEC).
The procedure is significantly different from normal EMC marking, which can be carried out completely by the manufacturer itself.
In this case type approval is required;this is granted by a road transport authority, in Sweden Transportstyrelsen
The UN's vehicle regulation UN ECE COP R10 concerns safety and makes a distinction between equipment and functions involved in safety systems and the driver's control of the vehicle, and other items such as navigation systems, heating systems and so on. The term "immunity related" functions is used to describe the functions included in a specific list in the text covering the legal requirement.
All other equipment is covered by the "normal" EMC Directive (2004/108/EC), and specific standards are constantly being developed.
UN ECE R10, CISPR 12, CISPR 25, ISO 11451-X, MIL-STD 461-X, etc.
