Contact UlrikaIt is important that building materials and other products that we have in an indoor environment do not emit harmful substances into the air. With an emission measurement, we analyze which volatile substances (VOC) a material emits in to the air. We can determine the total content of VOC (TVOC) and individual substances such as formaldehyde.
In our emission chambers, we can test whether your material meets various emission requirements set by, among others Byggvarubedömningen, CARB/EPA, IKEA, BSL (F****), RTS (M1), Svanen, BREEAM och LEED.
We have many years of experience in emission measurements and we can help with what needs to be tested for your specific needs.
An emission measurement means that the test material is placed in an emission chamber with a constant temperature, humidity and air circulation. The air in the chamber is tested a number of days after the start of the test, usually 28 days.
There are several different standardized methods we can perform:
ISO 16000-series:
Other methods:
We are an approved third-party certifier for the control of formaldehyde emission from wood-based boards in accordance with the EPA TSCA Title VI and CARB ATCM 93120 regulations. Emission methods used are:
We perform F****-testning and certification according to Japanese BSL (Building Standard Law) of formaldehyde emission from building products. We are approved by MLIT (Ministry of Land, Infrastucture and Transport). Emission methods used are Japanese Industrial Standards and Agricultural Standards, for example:
We are also approved by The Building Information Foundation RTS in Finland to perform emission tests according to the M1 Emission Classification of Building Materials: Protocol for Chemical and Sensory testing of Building Materials.
Other methods for the determination of formaldehyde:
VOC content according to:
Multiple Volvo Car Corporation Standards, for example:
When we perform an emission measurement, you get a test report. Depending on the measurement made, the report can be used as a basis for certification or approval by different requirements.
