The way to more robust product and production concepts goes through better methods for predicting and visualizing variation in product and process concepts.
Central to geometry hedging is to create robust geometry concepts that can withstand the production variation that can be expected. A first step is to analyze the robustness of the concept by means of stability analysis, and to analyze the conditions depending on the positioning systems (the reference system) for components.
With the help of statistical variation analysis, the expected variation in critical end dimensions can then be simulated and analyzed. A contribution analysis can also be performed, it shows a ranked list of the points and tolerances that contribute to variation in each critical measure.
By means of statistical variation analysis, expected variation in critical final dimensions can be simulated and analyzed. The analysis of variance is based on Monte Carlo simulation, a well-known technique for statistical simulation of stochastic processes.
RISE offers tolerance and robustness simulations with the intention of better verifying the product and production concept taking into account expected tolerances and manufacturing variation.
