Load and reload of sheet materials

A uniaxial tensile test which load, unload and reload up to specific intervals of strain levels. This test provides the information of the elasticity modules strain dependence of the material. Results provides valuable information for forming simulations.

Purpose

Measure the strain dependence of the material elasticity module during load and unload. This is because theoretically the elasticity module (Young's modulus) generally becomes lower with increased strain on the material. Results provide input data for forming simulations.

Method

A load- reload test is conducted in a hydraulic MTS tensile test machine on a specimen cut out along the rolling direction (can off course be in other directions). The strain on the material is measured using ARAMIS which is a optical 3D deformation measurement system that analyze, calculates and documents strains. ARAMIS measures on a sprayed stochastic pattern were the measurement range is 0.01 % up to several 100 %.
