Rotational impact testing of helmets, PPE

Studies show that the brain is more sensitive towards rotational as opposed to pure translational motion hence, different helmet manufacturers approach this claim differently. RISE offers measuring of not only the conventional translational motion but also the rotational one, where the latter affects helmets upon oblique impacts.

Purpose

RISE has a very long experience in testing of personal protective equipment ( PPE ) and, in addition, actively participates in the efforts of improving and developing existing or new standards at the European and international levels.

Helmet testing can be carried out not only according to a number of standards, within the field of PPE, but also according to clients' own requirements and specifications. Else, help can be extended in developing new methods based on clients’ needs, and in conducting type-approval tests against the Regulation (EU) 2016/425.

RISE is a "one-stop-shop" for testing and certification of PPE.

Method

In our laboratories we have a large number of test rigs and equipment for performing general and special mechanical tests - such as rotational impact tests.

Deliveries

After testing, a full test report with an accreditation mark can be obtained, that is if the method is already accredited, and the report can serve as a basis for the documentation required for the certification process.  However, if the test is not intended for certification purposes, such as in the case of product development tests, regular report along with graphs and data files can be obtained. Additionally, high-speed filming is also available upon request.
