Testing of light distribution for luminaires or lighting fixtures
Accredited testing of the light distribution of luminaires or lighting fixtures and the creation of photometric data files.
Purpose
Manufacturers of luminaires often need to know how the light from the luminaire is distributed in all various directions. Knowing the light distribution allows the creation of photometric data files which are used in software that is commonly used by lighting designers. By providing customers with photometric data files a manufacturer increases the marketability of their products.
Method
Light distribution is measured according to an internal method which is based on CIE publication 121:1996.
The luminaire is mounted to a goniophotometer and the luminous intensity is measured at 10 or 25 meter distance as the luminarie is rotated in three degree of freedom. The electrical properties of the luminaire are also measured as the total luminous flux (Lumen) and luminous efficacy (Lumen/Watt) are caluculated. The correlated colour temperature and colour rendering index of the luminaire are also measured.
The measured data is then used to create photometric data files for IES (.ies) and EULUMDAT (.ldt)
Deliveries
The results are reported in a test report in English which states that the test is performed as an accredited test. EULUMDAT- and IES-files are delivered with the report.
