Propell the future of sustainable supply chains with 3D printing!

Are you passionate about circularity, 3D printing, and transforming logistics and supply chains for a sustainable future? We’re looking for an innovative colleague to integrate cutting-edge production methods like 3D Printing (Additive Manufacturing) into supply chains, enhancing cost-effectiveness, sustainability, resiliens and circular business models.

Does it sound interesting? Apply for the position of x and get the opportunity to collaborate with leading researchers and industrial companies to shape the future of sustainable, decentralized supply chains with Just-In-Demand. Do you want to join us on our journey to make a difference?

Background
3D printing, or Additive Manufacturing (AM), is revolutionizing supply chains by enabling localized, on-demand production, reducing transportation and warehousing needs. This technology brings production closer to markets, cutting lifecycle energy and carbon emissions compared to traditional manufacturing. While AM has predominantly been used for prototyping, its role is expanding in industrial manufacturing to include end-user components, driven by advancements in materials, technology, and sustainability goals.

About the Role
You will leverage a cross-industry framework to model and compare traditional and decentralized supply chain scenarios based on cost, lead time, and environmental sustainability. You’ll engage in the actual transformation of the supply chains at leading industrial companies by participating in transformative projects. You will capture the unique characteristics and compute value parameters using methods like Value Stream Mapping (VSM), Supply Chain Operations Reference Model (SCOR), and Life Cycle Analysis (LCA) to quantify the business values and suggest next steps in an agile and iterative approach.

Responsibilities:

  • Select and compare supply chain scenarios, identifying parts and modeling supply chains for chosen scenarios and components.
  • Conduct high-level supply chain modeling for initial evaluations and identify hotspots for detailed analysis.
  • Gather data across different supply chain stages, calculate, and compare costs, lead times, and environmental impacts using established methods and frameworks.
  • Utilize SCOR, VSM, or LCA for detailed modeling of identified hotspots and develop supply chains based on iterative analysis to enhance efficiency, resillience and sustainability.

Location: Stockholm or Gothenburg, with approximately 60 days of travel per year to conduct on-site work at various companies.

Who are you?
We are looking for a dynamic individual with excellent communication skills, both written and spoken, in Swedish and English. To thrive in this role, we believe you have a technical interest and enthusiasm for 3D printing technologies and a willingness to learn other new innovative manufacturing technologies for micro-production. You possess innovative thinking combined with the ability to adapt to various industrial contexts and think creatively to leverage 3D printing for new solutions. Your excellent interpersonal and communication skills makes it easy for you to engage stakeholders and collaborate effectively with suppliers, customers, and internal teams.

To succeed in this role, you also need experience of:

  • Business analysis, thorough cost-benefit analyses, lead time assessments, and environmental impact studies.
  • Development of strong business cases based on economic and sustainability metrics.
  • Data collection and analysis to proficiency in gathering, processing, and analyzing both qualitative and quantitative data.
  • Experience in directly delivering commercial assignments at Swedish industrial companies.
  • Experience with projects related to additive manufacturing (3D printing).

Meritorious for the role is:

  • Sustainability expertise to understand environmental impacts within supply chains, including conducting and interpreting life cycle assessments.
  • Supply chain management knowledge with strong understanding of logistics, distribution, and inventory management.
  • Experience in consultative engagements or projects within industrial companies.
  • Experience of project work.
  • Experience facilitating workshops.
  • Experience in conducting stakeholder interviews.
  • Experience with 3D printing (metallic or plastic).
