Mats Ström, MSc in chemical engineering, and with doctoral studies in atmospheric corrosion and electrochemistry at Chalmers University of Technology, has been active as senior specialist and attribute leader for corrosion at Volvo Cars and Ford Motor Company.
Mats has dedicated extensive efforts to improve accelerated corrosion test methods, including equipment and accessories, resulting in standards such as ISO 16701, Volvo Group 423-0014 (”ACT 1”) and VCS 1027,1449 (”ACT 2”)/Ford Motor Company CETP 00.00-L-467 but also complete vehicle testing procedures and corrosion test chamber designs.
Mats is active in ISO TC156 WG7 and has been a frequent contributor in automotive corrosion fora.
Dominique Thierry is born in 1957 in France. He obtained his PhD in corrosion science from the Pierre and Marie Curie University in Paris France in 1988.
He is assistant professor (Docent) at the Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm, Sweden since 1993. He has supervised about 25 PhD students and many graduate students.
He is author or co-author of about 300 scientific papers in peer review journals and of several book chapters. His main fields of interest are atmospheric corrosion, localized electrochemical techniques, marine corrosion and surface protection.
He received numerous awards among which the European Federation of corrosion medal in 2021. He is a fellow of AMPP.
He has been working for several years as the technical director of the Swedish Corrosion Institute in Stockholm, Sweden. He is the founder of the French Corrosion Institute established in France in 2002 and he was its managing director from 2002-2021.
He is currently senior technical adviser at RISE Research Institute of Sweden in Stockholm.
