I am a researcher with a background in chemical engineering working with projects on hydrothermal treatments (carbonization and liquefaction) from biomass and industrial secondary streams for the development of sustainable products and resource recovery. My journey into thermochemical processes began with my master’s thesis, where I investigated hydrothermal carbonization (HTC) of biosludge from the pulp and paper industry. This work sparked a strong interest in sustainable waste treatment technologies and set the stage for my doctoral studies. During my doctoral studies, I expanded my expertise in HTC by focusing on phosphorus recovery from sewage sludge. My research focused on optimizing the HTC process to support sustainable nutrient recycling and innovative waste management practices. I am dedicated to contribute to environmental solutions through scientific research within the biorefinery industry.
