Kenny Hey Tow has a PhD in Photonics.
He joined RISE in 2018 and is a Senior Scientist at the Optical Fiber Sensors Group. He is working with industrial and non‐academic partners on fibre-optic sensor projects leading to prototypes and industrial implementation.
Before joining RISE, he worked at the Group for Fibre Optics laboratory of Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), Switzerland for five years where he managed and participated in research projects related to optical fibre sensing and specialty fibres. From October 2016 till May 2018, he was the project manager of an Innovative Training Network FINESSE (FIbre NErvous Sensing SystEms), a collaborative research and training network funded by the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under the Marie Sklodowska - Curie grant agreement n° 722509. This ITN gathers 26 European universities, research centers and industrial partners with complementary expertise with the ultimate vision of widespread implementation of distributed optical fibre sensor systems for a safer society.
